There were a pair of district shutouts Thursday night, with Daviess County topping Owensboro Catholic and Owensboro beating Apollo, both with scores of 8-0/

Seniors Jack Quisenberry scored a hat trick and Palmer Templeton added a goal and two assists in Daviess County’s 8-0 blowout win over Owensboro Catholic. Lukas Humphrey, Cameron Bell, Taylor Hoak, and Carter Houk all tallied goals as well.
“We played well,” Daviess County head coach Doug Sandifer said. “Catholic did a good job defensively. We were able to score a couple of goals and things opened up for us.”

Peter Mbayu, Byruhanga Mutabazi, and Jackson Sigler scored two goals each in Owensboro’s offensive onslaught. Mbayu also added two assists. Ryan Sovar (3 assists), Emile Banza (1 goal), Kennedy Oayne (1 goal), Junior Rugama (1 assist), and Brian Payne (1 assist) all played a pivotal role in the blowout win.
“I thought our boys came out to play right from the whistle,” Owensboro head coach Ryan Haley said. “We moved the ball well and we were able to finish the night off with eight goals and another shutout to start the season.”
