Once trailing 22-0, Daviess County quarterback Remi Davis found an open Jace Hunt for a 27-yard touchdown to make it a one-score game with 4:26 left in the third quarter. However, the offense fizzled in the fourth, and Daviess County fell 28-14 at Meade County.
The Panthers received the opening kickoff and marched 33 yards to the opposing 20, but they missed the field goal attempt. On the ensuing drive, Meade County ate up just under 5 minutes of the clock, going 80 yards in 10 plays culminating in a Cade Scott 8-yard rushing touchdown. The two-point conversion was successful to give Meade County an early 8-0 lead.
Receiving the ball back after forcing a quick three-and-out, Meade County scored on their second straight drive. Roques Wrennn ran it in from 11 yards out to make it 15-0.
After driving 62 yards to the Green Wave’s 3, Daviess County turned it over on downs. That was the story of the game — the Panthers finished with 340 yards of total offense including 193 on the ground, but only had 14 points to show for it.
Meade County’s Scott found an open Aidan Bratcher for a 10-yard touchdown pass to make it 22-0 with 1:55 left in the first half.
Down three scores, Daviess County reached paydirt, capping a 63-yard drive with a 1-yard rushing score by Garrison Barker. Davis connected with Hunt to cut the lead to eight with 4:26 left in the third quarter.
Despite carrying the momentum, Daviess County turned it over on downs on their next two possessions before throwing an interception on their final drive. Meade County kicked a field goal in both the third and fourth quarters to put the game out of reach.
Davis completed 6 of 15 pass attempts for 105 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. Hunt Caught 10 passes for 95 yards, while Maysey rushed for 155 yards on 18 carries.
Daviess County will look to pick up their first win of the season next week when they host 2-3 Warren Central.
