A pair of youth basketball organizations are bringing big tournaments to Owensboro in Spring 2025. Organizers of both events anticipate more than 50 youth teams from across several states to participate.
Hoopz Showcase, based in Tennesee, is hosting the Owensboro Classic on March 22-23. Bracket Sportz, based in West Virginia, will then bring the 1st Yellow Banks Shootout on April 12-13. Both tournaments will be held at the Owensboro Convention Center.
“This tournament represents a fantastic opportunity not only to bring great basketball to our city, but also to have a lasting impact on our community by enhancing our reputation as a sports destination. Each event will generate an estimated $269,400 in economic impact for local businesses,” said Kristina Collins, Visit Owensboro Destination Sports Sales/Business Development.
George Gray, Director of Hoopz Showcase said, they are excited to host the event.
“Boys and Girls teams from Kentucky and surrounding states will compete for championships along with enjoying the many attractions the city of Owensboro has to offer,” he said. “We are looking forward to host more events in the Owensboro area in the future.
Zach Deal, event organizer for Bracket Sportz added, “We are expecting a huge turnout with teams from Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Missouri, and Tennessee. Champions from each division get a chance to compete for free at the end of June at Bracket Sportz National Championships.”
