Hancock County, Owensboro, and Owensboro Catholic all won, while Trinity (Whitesville) lost at home.
Hancock County 53, Muhlenberg County 49
Despite playing shorthanded due to injuries and sickness, the Lady Hornets moved to 13-10 on the season after beating Muhlenberg County 53-49. Ansley House led the way with a double-double of 26 points and 14 rebounds. Carolina Jones added 21 points and six assists, while Izzy Ross recorded three points and six assists. Madyson Higdon grabbed 14 boards and added two points. Ansley Chappel finished 1-2 at the line to round out the team’s scoring.
“We haven’t been in these situations this season where we have been up and had to hang on to the lead going into the fourth. So there is a lot we can talk about and watch film on to improve how we close out games.”
Owensboro 55, Bowling Green 50
The Lady Devils overcame a late Bowling Green surge to win 55-50. Shalyn Sprinkles hit two threes to go along with her team-high 14 points, while Keely Harris was second on the team in scoring with 10 points, Abby Sapp and Heleina John both added eight points.
“We played well for three quarters, but let them back in the game in the fourth,” Owensboro head coach Jansen Locher said. “We did pull out the win, so I am happy with the result. We know we have to be better down the stretch when we play Owensboro Catholic on Friday.
Owensboro Catholic 68, Muhlenberg County 60
The Lady Aces overcame Muhlenberg County’s Peyton Bradley’s 31 points to win 68-60. Sophia Newby led the team in points with 20, while Karmin Riley (17) and Taylor Mannahan (13) both finished in double figures. The trio combined for eight of the team’s nine three-pointers.
“I thought we started off well and played with a lot of energy,” Owensboro Catholic head coach Michael Robertson said. “We have to get better at finishing and hitting our free throws. They are going to bite us again if we don’t start making them.”
Ohio County 58, Trinity (Whitesville) 46
Rylynne Meserve hit four threes to go along with her team-high 14 points as the Lady Raiders lost to Ohio County 58-46. Ella Morris added 13 points, while Sophie Hatfield was third on the team in scoring with eight points. Preslee Meserve (5), Sarah Payne (3), and Madison McDaniel (2) rounded out the teams scoring.
