In a tight match, the Hancock County boys team beat Apollo 3-2, while the girls lost 5-0. For the Hornets, Kyle Anderson won his singles match, while the doubles teams of Preston Blanton and Payne Pence and Van Reska and Tre London both won.

“I’m glad the boys were able to pull out this win,” Hancock County head coach Dan Hopkins said. “We were down two of our top six guys. Tyce was put in a tough spot playing number one, but as I told him, this is how we learn to face adversity. He’ll be better as a player and person from it. Kudos to Kyle who number three in his very first match of the year, and a scrappy number two doubles was clutch. The boys matched last year’s record of 10-4 with one match left at Butler County. The girls once again battled hard against a good team.”

For Apollo, Jamison Franey and Noah Crider both won their singles matches. On the girls’ side, Anna Dilback, Adelyn Dilback, and Morgan Shook all won their singles matches, while the doubles teams of Maddie Ebelhar and Jessie Pate and Rachel Edens and Scout Carroll both won.
