The Owensboro football team scored three times in the first few minutes and never looked back en route to a 49-14 victory at Graves County to kick off district play.

The Red Devils (3-2) got rolling early with a score on their opening drive, when DaMarcus Ganaway Jr. found Chadyn Morris for a 40-yard touchdown.

Graves County fumbled the ensuing kickoff, and OHS doubled their lead on a  43-yard touchdown connection from Ganaway Jr. to Kingston Dillard.

Owensboro took a 21-0 lead with 8:02 still on the clock in the first quarter when Tre Shemwell returned a punt 63 yards to paydirt.

OHS got a 6-yard touchdown run from Evan Hampton, then Dillard added a 30-yard receiving touchdown to push their lead to 35-0 by halftime.

A Hayden McBride 3-yard run pushed the lead to 42-0 before the Eagles got on the board with an 89-yard kick return for a touchdown.

Both teams found the end zone once more in the fourth quarter, with the Red Devils’ final score coming off a 9-yard run by Tee Green.

Ganaway Jr. went 13-15 with 274 yards and three touchdowns. Hampton led the ground attack with 14 carries for 74 yards. Dillard racked up 119 yards on four receptions to lead all receivers. Defensively, Jalen Carr had an interception, Hensley Hannah forced a fumble, and Xavier Conrad recorded a sack.
