Owensboro Catholic won the All-A Regional, while Daviess County finished 2-1 in their triple header.

Owensboro Catholic wins All A Regional

Owensboro Catholic beat Hancock County 2-0 (25-17, 25-9), and Trinity (Whitesville) 2-0 (25-17, 25-20) to win the All-A Tournament and improve to 9-3 on the season. Trinity (Whitesville) won their opener against McLean County 2-0 (25-15, 25-13), while Hancock County beat Cloverport.

In the Lady Aces win over Hancock County, Mayme Powell led the way with 15 assists, five digs, two service aces, one block, and one kill, while Susie Maglinger had four kills and four blocks. Against Trinity (Whitesville), Molly Arnold recorded a team high 19 digs, while Emma Castlen had seven kills and five blocks.

“We did some good things which allowed us in the second match to play a total of 14 players,” Owensboro Catholic Head Coach Brian Hardison said. “We will have to play solid Catholic volleyball on Tuesday night to be able to play with Castle.”

Daviess County finishes triple header 2-1

Competing in a tripleheader, Daviess County finished 2-1 after beating Southwestern 2-0 (25-17, 25-10) and Christian County 2-1 (10-25, 25-10, 15-11) and losing to Adair County 2-0 (15-25, 21-25).

Against Southwestern, Lexi Jones had 13 of the team’s 39 digs, while Maddie Chinn recorded five kills and five blocks. In their win over Christian County, Stella Roberts finished with five kills and three digs, while Kyndal Murphy had eight digs. Against Adair County, Maya Pollard had five kills and five digs.

“Overall, we made some great plays and got better today,” Daviess County Head Coach Tyla Bailey said.
