On a night where both defenses stood tall, Apollo (3-4) made enough plays down the stretch to beat Graves County (1-6) 14-7. Neither team was able to get going early, and it wasn’t until the final minute of the first half that the Eagles broke the scoreless tie. Ross Milburn rumbled into the endzone from three yards out to give Apollo a 7-0 lead.

The Eagles pushed their lead to 14-0 halfway through the third quarter when JT Edge found Eli Williams from three yards out. Graves County cut the lead to 14-7 with just under five minutes left in the game, but the Eagles were able to close it out.

“Our defense played awesome tonight,” Apollo Head Coach John Edge said. “Offensively, I thought we ran the ball well. They did a good job with our passing game.”

Apollo moves to 1-1 in the district and will be off next week due to Fall Break. They return on Oct. 17 when they travel to Madisonville-North Hopkins.
