The Owensboro Post 9 Bombers are giving the community a chance to bring home a Kentucky Legend smoked ham or Fields bologna roll just in time for Thanksgiving while supporting one of the city’s most successful baseball programs.

Orders can be placed through November 23 by calling team manager Matt Freeman at 270-570-0005. Pickup will take place the day before Thanksgiving, November 26, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the American Legion Hall, 736 Frederica Street. Prices are $30 for a half ham, $45 for a whole ham, and $15 for a 2.25-pound bologna roll.

Freeman said the annual fundraiser helps sustain a program that has become a point of pride for local baseball fans.

“The Bombers mean a lot to Owensboro,” Freeman said. “We’re proud to represent this city everywhere we play, and fundraisers like this help us keep building opportunities for local players to compete at a high level.”

That pride was on full display this summer when the Bombers captured their fifth consecutive state championship behind a dominant outing from pitcher Carter Kimmel, who allowed just one earned run over six innings. Owensboro topped Lexington 5-2 thanks to key hits from Colton Carver, Parker Heistand, and Brady Atwell, who delivered a two-run homer that broke the game open.

“Every season, our team sets goals, and one is to win the state championship,” Freeman said after that victory.

The Bombers went on to represent Kentucky in the Southeast Regional Tournament in Asheboro, North Carolina, continuing a run of success that has solidified their status as one of the premier programs in the region.
