In a pair of 9th District matches, Daviess County and Owensboro Catholic both won, while in other action, Trinity (Whitesville) lost on the road.
Daviess County 72, Apollo 27
Kennedy Lane exploded for 31 points, powering Daviess County past Apollo 72-27. Stella Mason scored seven of her 11 points in the second quarter, and Maddie Barron and Kori Harrington-Posey both finished with eight points.
“This group is special. They are such a fun group to coach because they play for each other,” Daviess County Head Coach Natalie Payne said. “I appreciate their attention to detail and the way they hold each other to a high standard.”
For the E-Gals, Eriyah Curry led the way with eight points, and Aubrey Johnson added five points.
Owensboro Catholic 68, Owensboro 33
Katie Hagan exploded for 23 points, and Layla Martin hit three threes to go along with her 14 points as the Lady Aces beat Owensboro 68-33. Taylor Mannahan scored all 11 other points in the last three quarters, and Claudia Munsey finished with 10 points.
For the Lady Devils, Olivia Hogg led the way with 13 points, and Abby Sapp scored eight points.
Edmonson County 59, Trinity (Whitesville) 41
Preslee Meserve scored nine of her 17 of her 19 points in the second half as the Lady Raiders fell to Edmonson County 59-41. Ry’Lynne Meserve finished with seven points, and Ella Morris and Olivia Starks both added six points.
“We have to do a better job of guarding Williams and Sowders, and get more consistent scoring to compete with them,” Trinity (Whitesville) Head Coach Emily Hernandez said. “We completed the first and third quarters, but we have to put together four quarters together to be successful.”
