Traveling to Bowling Green for the 1st Round KHSAA Swimming & Diving Championships, Daviess County’s girls team emerged victorious in four events and advanced four athletes to the 2025 KHSAA State Swimming & Diving Championships.
The Lady Panthers relay team of Alaina Mason, Grace Bullock, Ryleigh Bevil, and Ellie Girten won both the 200 freestyle and 200 medley relays, while Bevil also finished atop the podium in the 100 freestyle and 100 breaststroke. Girten and Bullock placed third in the 50 and 100 freestyle respectively, both advancing to state.
Owensboro Catholic’s 200 freestyle relay team of Vince Coyne, Miller Bowman, Jeremy Danetz, and Zachary McDole finished sixth and punched their ticket to state. Bowman also placed fourth in the 100 freestyle and fifth in the 50 freestyle, advancing to state for both.
Owensboro will be represented at state by Ethan Lippert, who finished second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 55.03. He will also be competing in the 100 freestyle.
Apollo didn’t advance anyone to the state tournament. The Eagles’ 400 freestyle relay and 200 medley relay team of Eli Mallot, Beau Brock, Grayson Turner, and Keaton Boling finished 12th and 16th, respectively.
The state swimming prelims are set for February 20th and 21st.
