McLean County won their season opener, while Owensboro Catholic improved to 2-0 on the year. In other action, Apollo, Hancock County, and Trinity (Whitesville) all lost.
University Heights 9, Apollo 8
Leading 8-7 entering the bottom of the seventh, the Eagles were unable to close out University Heights, losing 9-8. Ryleigh Logan and Jackson Carder combined for five hits and three RBIs, while Jagger Pate, Ty Lillpop, Gunnar Hendricks, Brayden Burger, and Gage Logsdon all drove in runs.
Carder started on the mound, allowing two earned runs over 2 2/3 innings, striking out four, while Isaac James and Logan both pitched in relief.
Henderson County 11, Hancock County 6
Tied 3-3, the Hornets allowed six runs in the top of the sixth and never fully recovered, losing to Henderson County 11-6. Landis Pate and Noah Keown both drove in a pair of runs, while Grant Smith went 2-4. Porter Hay allowed two earned runs over five innings, striking out seven, while Keown, Smith, and Colten Severs all pitched in relief.
McLean County 6, Todd County Central 0
The Cougars jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning and added three runs in the second en route to a 6-0 win over Todd County Central. Corbin Martin went 2-4 with two RBIs, while Jaelin Groves, Brooks Lynam, and Layden Bozarth all drove in runs.
Groves was flawless on the mound, striking out nine over five shutout innings, while Nash Lee threw two shutout innings in relief.
Butler County 6, Owensboro 3
Owensboro fell behind to Butler County 5-1 early and never fully recovered, losing 6-3. Hayden McBride and Ty Ashley both drove in runs, while Eli Hampton went 1-3. Brayden Toler started on the mound for the Red Devils, allowing four earned runs over two innings, while Jaxson Fogle and Jordan Quesnell both came on in relief.
Owensboro Catholic 11, South Warren 2
Tied 2-2 entering the top of the sixth, the Aces scored nine runs over the last two innings en route to an 11-2 win over South Warren. Mason Russelburg went 1-3 with three RBIs, while Alex Hood, Drew Miles, Jaxson White, and Karson White combined for six hits and seven RBIs. Myles Grant started on the mound, allowing two unearned runs over two innings, while Russelburg, Lucas Patton, and Walker Crabtree combined for five shutout innings in relief.
Hopkins County Central 4, Trinity (Whitesville) 0
The Raiders drew 10 walks but were unable to capitalize, falling to Hopkins County Central 4-0. Grant Howard had the team’s lone hit, while Harrison Barnett and Kayin Howard both drew a pair of walks. Rylan Cecil allowed two earned runs over five innings, while Isaac Hernandez threw two shutout innings in relief.
