Daviess County tennis kicked off its season with a bang, sweeping Hancock County. The Lady Panthers won 5-0, as Emmie Kate Williams, Jenna Faulkner, and Gianna Falcone all won their singles matches, while the doubles teams of Ellie Dever and Ella Borwell and Vivi Castlen and Camille Shutt were victorious.
“We played great as a team to start our season off,” Daviess County Head Coach Dylan McDuffee said. “I was proud of how well our new players, Vivi, Gianna, Christian, and Caleb played.”
For the Panthers, they won 9-0 behind Landon McDuffee, Eli Bivens, Alex Sublett, Nathan Kafer, Lake McDuffee, and Christian, all of whom won their singles matches. In doubles, the pairs of Landon McDuffee and Bivens, Farmer and Sublett, and Kafer and Caleb Murphy all came out on top.
“Landon and Emma Kate are superb players,” Hancock County Head Coach Dan Hopkins said. “Dylan, their coach, did a good job of preparing them. We have another challenging match tonight against Grayson County. Hopefully, we’ll learn and adjust from this. It’s still very early, so all we can do is get better each day and match. I do think our attitudes were positive on the court.”
