Owensboro boys’ team split their double-header, while Daviess County went 2-0 on the week.

Daviess County beat Owensboro and Owensboro Catholic

In a back-to-back against Owensboro and Owensboro Catholic, Daviess County went 2-0. Against Owensboro, the boys won 7-2, and the girls won 9-0, while the Lady Panthers beat the Lady Aces 6-3.

Against Owensboro, Landon McDuffee, Eli Bivens, Walt Yeiser, and Nathan Kafer all won their singles matches, while the doubles teams of McDuffee and Bivens, Alex Sublett and Gabe Hoak, and Christian Farmer and Yeiser all won.

Against the Lady Aces, Emmie Kate Williams, Maddie Meyer, Ellie Dever, Alexa Salamah, and Claire Dunlay all won their singles matches, while the doubles team of Meyer and Salamah won. For the Lady Aces, Meredith Traylor won her singles match, while Madison Clark and Traylor, and Mary Edge and Sophia Merchant both won their doubles matches

Aces go 1-1 in double-header

In a competitive double-header, the Aces fell to Manuel 3-2 and beat Lexington Catholic 3-2. Ollie Haines won both his individual matches, while Joseph Merchant went 2-0 in his doubles matches.

“We battled in both matches, knowing they were going to be tight,” Owensboro Catholic Head Coach Branden Haines said. “Both came down to a single court, which made it especially exciting. It’s a treat to play the top teams in the state early in March. To bounce back after a heartbreaking loss and win in a thriller shows a tremendous amount of maturity and fight.”
