Apollo held off Owensboro in an important 9th District game, while Daviess County and Trinity (Whitesville) both won.
Apollo 9, Owensboro 4
Jumping out to a 3-1 lead in the first inning, Apollo added some much-needed insurance runs down the stretch to beat Owensboro 9-4. Tyler Hall homered and drove in four runs, Emersyn Bullington went 3-3, and Arianna Ramirez drove in a pair of runs. Mollie Julian threw a complete game in the circle, allowing four earned runs over seven innings, striking out eight.
For the Lady Devils, Sydney Stallings went 2-3 with a homer and four RBIs, and Hayley Sikes finished 2-4. Paislee Hodge threw a complete game in the circle, allowing nine earned runs over six innings, striking out one.
Daviess County 5, Floyd Central (Floyds Knobs), IN 3
Tied 3-3 in the bottom of the seventh, Annie Newman crushed a two-run homer as the Lady Panthers walked off Floyd Central 5-3. Newman hit a pair of homers and drove in three runs, while Shelby Bennett walked twice and scored twice. Entering in relief early in the first inning, Storey Hume allowed one earned run over 6 2/3 innings, striking out seven.
Trinity (Whitesville) 10, Edmonson County 0
Avary Emmick homered in the bottom of the sixth to enable the mercy rule as the Lady Raiders beat Edmonson County 10-0. Emmick finished 2-4 with two RBIs, Kendall Howard homered twice, and Sadie Morris went 2-3 with a pair of RBIs. Ella Morris threw a complete game shutout in the circle, striking out 12 over six innings.
