In a pair of important 3rd Region games, Owensboro Catholic and Hancock County both won, while Apollo fell at home.
Evansville Mater Dei (Evansville), IN 5, Apollo 4
Tied 3-3 in extra innings, Apollo gave up a run in the top of the ninth as they fell to Evansville Mater Dei 5-4. Gunnar Hendricks finished 1-4 with a two-run homer, Ty Lillpop and Jagger Pate both recorded RBIs, and Brayden Burger scored a run and went 1-2. Isaac James allowed four runs over five innings, while Ryleigh Logan pitched four innings in relief.
Hancock County 3, Grayson County 2
Tied 2-2 in the bottom of the eighth, Porter Hay drew a bases-loaded walk to walk off Grayson County 3-2. Kolby Keown went 2-4, Jack Roberts finished 2-4 with an RBI, and Landis Pate scored and drew three walks.
Owensboro Catholic 7, Breckinridge County 5
Trailing 4-0 entering the bottom of the fourth, the Aces outscored Breckinridge County 7-1 down the stretch to complete their 7-5 comeback win. Mason Moser and Jake Murphy combined for four hits and four RBIs, and Alex Hood finished 2-3 with an RBI. Jaxson White started on the mound, allowing four runs over four innings, while Gentry Atwell pitched three innings in relief.
