Softball roundup: May 14

It was a busy night for the coverage teams as Apollo, Daviess County, Hancock County, Owensboro Catholic, and Trinity (Whitesville) all won, while in other action, McLean County lost on the road.

Apollo 8, Bowling Green 5

Tyler Hall went 1-3 with a homer and two RBIs, and Annsley Hall drove in three runs as the E-Gals beat Bowling Green 8-5. Arianna Rarmiez went 2-4, and Liza Page, Emersyn Bullington, and Mollie Julian all drove in runs. Hannah Holder allowed five earned runs over six innings, and Mollie Julian pitched a scoreless seventh to close it out.

Daviess County 6, Evansville Mater Dei 2

Sophia Cain struck out four and allowed two earned runs over six innings as the Lady Panthers beat Evansville Mater Dei 6-2. Annie Newman continued her torrid streak at the plate, crushing two homers and driving in three RBIs, while Callie Smith, Lilah Morris, and Cain all went deep.

Hancock County 3, Muhlenberg County 2

Bella Bryant struck out seven and allowed two earned runs over seven innings to fuel Hancock County past Muhlenberg County 3-2. At the plate, Bryant finished 2-3 with three RBIs, and Jordyn Waltrip scored twice and went 2-3.

Dawson Springs 15, McLean County 0

Owensboro Catholic 8, Union County 7

Trailing 7-3 late, the Lady Aces scored four runs in the sixth and added one more in the seventh to walk off Union County 8-7. Taylor Clark scored four times and finished 4-5, Lily Logsdon went 3-5 and drove in three runs, and Abi Murphy and Ava Mudd combined for four hits and two RBIs. Mudd threw a complete game int he circle, striking out 10 and allowing three earned runs over seven innings.

Trinity (Whitesville) 2, Ohio County 0

Ella Morris struck out 14 over seven shutout innings to power the Lady Raiders past Ohio County 2-0. Kendall Howard finished 1-2 with an RBI, Avary Emmick went 2-3, and Aburee McKinney and Sadie Morris both had hits.
