Kentucky Scholastic 3D Archery (Kentucky S3DA) is hosting their 2026 State 3D Outdoor
Archery Championships from Friday, June 5, through Sunday, June 7, at the Mattingly Target
Shooting Range. This is the second major S3DA event of the year, hosted in Daviess County, following the 2026 Eastern Indoor Nationals, held at the Owensboro Convention Center from February 26 through March 1.

The Kentucky chapter of S3DA has been working closely alongside the Daviess County Parks Department and Visit Owensboro to bring this state event back to Daviess County. Over 250 youth archers are expected to compete throughout the weekend, with each competitor shooting two rounds during the three days. The competition will feature All Eagle, Junior Eagle, Youth Pins, Youth Open, Young Adult, Youth Barebow, Youth Olympic, and Youth UNC archery divisions.

Scholastic 3-D Archery, known as S3DA, was founded in December 2012 by a group of leaders in the archery industry who realized there was a large gap between basic introductory archery programs and the next-step training initiatives that youth are looking for. S3DA is a national youth archery organization designed to foster, educate, and guide youth in three major disciplines: Indoor Target, 3D Archery, and Outdoor Target. The mission of the program also includes teaching ethical bowhunting and wildlife conservation, giving youth a well-rounded foundation in both sport and stewardship.

“Kentucky S3DA is very happy to be back in Owensboro area for a state championship,” S3DA Kentucky state coordinator, Rob Cox, said. “We are looking forward to a great 3D event with our partners in Daviess County.”

“Having the Outdoor State 3D Championships back here in Daviess County is great for summer sports tourism as well as the local archery community,” Lucas Daunhauer of Visit Owensboro said, “Archery is continuing to thrive here as we work with our local partners to grow the sport’s presence in the surrounding Owensboro area.”

Competition for the Outdoor 3D State begins at 3:30 PM on Friday with practice targets opening at 2 PM. The weekend will feature food, raffles, and great prizes. The championships continue through Sunday, with more information availableon Kentucky Scholastic 3D Archery’s social media and website.
