Despite a mostly new roster, the Owensboro Bombers have picked up where they left off from a year ago, starting the season 5-0 – capped off by sweeping yesterday’s doubleheader.

The Bombers kicked off their doubleheader with a 10-1 win over the Twin Cities Raiders, behind Colton Carver going 3-4 with a homer and Corbin Martin’s five-inning gem. Against the Post 6 Rangers, Carver continued his onslaught at the plate, homering and driving in five, while Eli Hatfield finished 3-4 with an RBI in their 12-1 win.

“We are excited to kick the season off with a string of good wins,” Owensboro Bombers Head Coach Matt Freeman said. “We have four returning players from the 2025 roster of 18. The challenge is always to see where players fit in and how to utilize them in a way to give them the best opportunity to succeed.”

The Bombers started their season with an 8-2 win over Funkhouser, thanks to a six run fourth inning, before shutting out Newburgh 10-0 on Wednesday. Brodie Tucker threw a complete game shutout, striking out four over six innings.

On Friday, the Bombers cruised past Rockport 9-2 thanks to Nolan Johnson and Brady Benjamin combining for two hits and four RBIs. Gage Napier threw a complete game on the mound, allowing two runs and striking out three over seven innings.

The Bombers are off for the next two days before hosting Evansville Pate on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. CDT.
