Russell Igleheart, a 47-year-old Whitesville man, is facing multiple felonies and several other charges after he reportedly led police on a chase and wrecked the vehicle with two passengers inside, according to the Kentucky State Police.
According to KSP, just before 7 p.m. Monday a trooper observed a suspicious vehicle driving in a field off Pleasant Valley Road and Pleasant Point Road east of Owensboro. As the trooper turned around to investigate, the vehicle reportedly sped off and eventually overturned.
The driver fled the vehicle and failed to comply with the troopers commands, according to KSP. The trooper was able to catch the suspect and place him under arrest without further incident.
The operator was identified as Igelheart. He was transported to the Daviess County Detention Center.
During the course of the investigation, it was determined Igelheart, who had two passengers with him, would not let them out of the vehicle as he was attempting to flee the trooper, according to KSP.
Igelheart was charged by KSP with the following offenses:
- Wanton endangerment, first degree
- Driving under the influence
- Leaving the scene of an accident
- Unlawful Imprisonment, first degree
- Fleeing/Evading Police, second degree (on foot)
- Resisting arrest
- Criminal Mischief, third degree
- Possession of marijuana
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- No insurance
- Driving on an expired driver’s license
- No registration plates
- No registration receipt
- Failure to transfer motor vehicle
- Failure to wear seatbelts
