A day of mini golf, local food and drinks, and community fundraising will return to downtown Owensboro on June 20 as organizers prepare for the annual Putt Putt Pub Crawl benefiting Borrowed Hearts Owensboro.
The event, billed as “A Fun Day. A Stronger Community,” will transform participating downtown businesses into putt-putt holes as teams make their way from stop to stop throughout the afternoon.
Participants will navigate custom-designed holes at nine locations: Big Whiskey’s, Brasher’s Lil’ Nashville, Don Mario, Fetta Specialty Pizza, Lure Seafood and Grille, Mellow Mushroom, The Pub on Second, Sip Owensboro, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
The event combines miniature golf with a pub crawl format, allowing participants to visit each location, enjoy food and drink specials, and compete for prizes while supporting a local nonprofit.
“One of my favorite parts of this event is seeing how creative each business gets with its putt-putt hole,” organizer Courtney VonGunten said. “Every year, people come up with something different, and it’s become a fun tradition for both the businesses and the participants.”
Borrowed Hearts Owensboro, the event’s beneficiary, provides assistance to foster, adoptive, and kinship families throughout the region.
VonGunten said the event has grown into more than just a day of entertainment.
“It’s really more than a pub crawl,” she said. “It’s a chance for people to spend a day downtown, support local businesses, make memories with friends, and help a great cause at the same time.”
Teams will travel from hole to hole throughout downtown, using putters to complete each course and record scores along the way. In addition to the competition, participants will have opportunities to win prizes and enjoy specials offered by participating establishments.
“We’ve always been amazed by how willing this community is to rally around organizations that are making a difference,” VonGunten said. “When people come out and participate, they’re not only having fun, they’re helping support families and children right here in our community.”
Registration is available through an online sign-up form linked through the event’s promotional materials.
VonGunten said the event continues to be fueled by community support and the enthusiasm of both local businesses and participants.
“Whether you’re competitive and want to win or you’re just looking for a fun day with friends, there’s something for everyone,” she said. “At the end of the day, we’re bringing people together for a good cause, and that’s what makes this event special.”
The Putt Putt Pub Crawl is open to adults and is expected to draw teams from across the Owensboro area for a day focused on fun, community involvement, and charitable giving. Organizers encourage participants to gather friends, form a team, and “putt for a purpose” while supporting local businesses and Borrowed Hearts Owensboro.
