Trinity High School athletics will have a familiar spearheading the program as the 2022 school year gets underway, as former Trinity and Daviess County Dance Coach Debbie Connor has been hired as the new Athletic Director.

Connor is no stranger to the Raiders, hailing from Whitseville, Kentucky, herself and having coached the dance team for nine years. She was the initial creator of the dance team for Trinity, as she put it together when her daughter became interested in dancing at the high school level.

“I became a dance coach when my daughter was in high school,” Connor said. “Trinity High School did not have a dance team at the time and dance is what she wanted to do. I inquired about starting a team and have coached ever since.”

After leaving Trinity, she made her way to the Panthers and served as Daviess County’s Dance Coach for a decade. While Connor has not been in AD in her long-tenured career in sports, when she saw the job opening she knew it was something that she couldn’t pass up.

“The opportunity of becoming the AD came along from a job posting,” Connor said. “I do not have previous experience as an AD, but have been a High School coach for 20 years and love sports and being involved with School Athletics.”

Connor is eager to get to work, saying that hopes to give student-athletes a multitude of opportunities while helping her coaches excel in building a strong culture across Trinity Athletics.

“I plan on incorporating as many sports as the students are interested in participating,” Connor said. “I am most excited about working with all of the athletes and fellow coaches to make the best experience possible for athletes and coaches as well.”
