Owensboro Catholic boys soccer opened the season up strong to start the week, as the Martin brothers propelled them to a 5-1 win over Muhlenberg County in their home season opener.
The Aces had offense in spades against the Stallions on Monday, rattling off 24 shots with 15 on goal. Muhlenberg County’s keepers combined for 10 saves, but surrendered five goals in the loss.
Senior Austin Martin led the way with three goals and two assists. His brother in junior Brody Martin followed with a pair of goals and an assist himself to round out their attack.
Muhlenberg County was only able to get one goal on the day, with five of their six shots on goal. Sear Parker Jones was steady in the net, saving four of them.
Owensboro Catholic starts the 2022 campaign 1-0, as Head Coach Andy Donohoe and company will return home for a district matchup with Daviess County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday for their next game.
