Some late game heroics from freshman Luke Pfeifer helped the Owensboro Catholic boys soccer team from falling at home to open up the week, sinking the shot that would tie them with Webster County 4-4.

It was a whirlwind of a contest for the Aces and Trojans, as the two traded blows back and forth throughout. Webster County had the slight edge, holding onto a 4-3 and seemingly getting ready to grab a win until the final two minutes of the game.

With just over a minute left a pass from freshman Joseph Kurtz found Pfeifer, as he sank the equalizer and moved Owensboro Catholic’s record to 3-1-2 on the season.

Junior Brody Martin led the way for the Aces with a brace and an assist, while senior Austin Martin had a goal and a pair of assists himself to round out their offense. Senior keeper Parker Jones chipped in two saves as well on the night.

Owensboro Catholic will now take a few days off before returning to their home pitch for the second time in as many games, as they will host Owensboro at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
