Daviess County and Trinity (Whitesville) volleyball both grabbed wins in its respective matchups on Tuesday, while the Lady Devils fell to Ohio County.
Owensboro vs. Ohio County
The Lady Devils couldn’t bounce back from a tough first set on the road, as Ohio County grabbed a 3-0 sweep over Owensboro on Tuesday.
The Lady Eagles set the tone for the match right away, grabbing a commanding lead and defeating the Lady Devils 25-12. Owensboro bounced back in the second set, but was unable to gain enough to win the second set and lost 25-19.
Not much changed in the third set for the Lady Devils, as they couldn’t muster up enough offense and fell to Ohio County 25-17 as the 3-0 sweep came to a close.
Owensboro falls to 4-5 overall on the season, as they will now take a day off before they return home to host Meade County at 6 p.m. on Thursday.
Trinity vs. Grayson County
The Lady Raiders were able to grab its second straight win to start the week on Tuesday, sweeping Grayson County 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 28-26).
It was a big team effort in kills with junior Hannah Nash (19), sophomore Kenzie McDowell (9) and junior Georgia Howard (7) leading the way, chipping in a combined 35 kills. Howard also led the way defensively with 18 digs and senior Abby Payne right behind her with 14, while senior Josie Aull orchestrated the offense with a whopping 38 assists.
Trinity (Whitesville) improves to 6-3 overall with back-to-back wins, as they will now take a day off before hosting Edmonson County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Daviess County vs. Muhlenberg County
Looking to snap a three-game losing streak, the Lady Panthers were able to do so on Tuesday by sweeping Muhlenberg County (25-16, 25-7, 25-11).
Daviess County had 29 kills on the day, with senior Josie Newcom leading the way with 14. Senior Lexi Owen helped the offense thrive with a team-leading 16 assists, while Taylor Roberts led the defense with six digs.
The Lady Panthers improved to 5-4 overall on the season with the win and will look to carry that momentum into their district matchup on Thursday, hitting the road to take on Owensboro Catholic at 7 p.m.
