Girls soccer recap (Aug. 25): DCHS, AHS

The Lady Panthers and E-gals soccer teams were clicking on all cylinders Thursday, as the two grabbed wins in their respective road contests.

Daviess County vs. Henderson County

The Lady Panthers grabbed their second straight win on Thursday, defeating Henderson County 2-1 on the road to close out their week.

Daviess County earned a plethora of chances offensively against the Lady Colonels, taking 21 shots on the night. Sophomore Lily Hoagland grabbed the Lady Panthers two goals on the night, getting a pair of assists as well from sophomore Lillian Coombs.

Meanwhile, junior Emily Baughn led the way in net to keep Henderson County off the board, grabbing seven saves en route to the 2-1 win. Following the win Daviess County will take a few days off, looking to prepare for a district battle with Owensboro at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

Apollo vs. Muhlenberg County

The E-gals were able to snap their four-game losing streak on Thursday, getting back in the winning column by defeating Muhlenberg County 3-1 on the road.

Apollo was able to get shots in bunches on Thursday, taking 21 shots on the night with 12 of them being on target. Junior Alana Rone led the way offensively with a pair of goals and an assist, while junior Jollie Foster had a goal and an assist as well.

Senior JoHannah Huthchinson and junior Ahston Leigh both spent time in net, as they grabbed two saves each to limit Muhlenberg County to one goal. The E-gals improved to 2-5 overall on the season and will now take a day off before hitting the road for their fourth straight road game, taking on Hopkinsville at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
