Trinity (Whitesville) kept its winning streak alive on Thursday night, while Owensboro and Apollo both suffered road losses to Meade County and Ohio County.

Owensboro vs. Meade County

The Lady Devils losing streak rose to three on Thursday, as they couldn’t stifle Meade County and fell 3-1 (25-21, 25-22, 14-25, 25-14).

Senior Brooklyn Williams was the team-leader in kills, serving as the only player in double figures with 16. Meanwhile it was sophomore Ava Fincher who got the offense flowing, totalling 18 assists on the night.

Defensively senior Kennedy Thompson and junior Hannah Ashley combined for 41 digs, accounting for 24 and 17 respectively. Owensboro falls to 4-6 overall with the loss, as they will now take a few days off before a district home match with Apollo at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

Trinity vs. Edmonson County

The Lady Raiders volleyball team extended their winning streak to three straight on Thursday, grabbing its third consecutive sweep by defeating Butler County 3-0 (25-11, 25-22, 25-12).

Junior Hannah Nash led the way with 20 kills, while sophomore Kenzie McDowell added eight kills, junior Georgia Howard had six and senior Abby Payne chipped in five. It was senior Josie Aull that orchestrated the offense, taylling 33 assists.

Sophomore Caroline Hall led the charge defensively with 23 digs, while Howard was close behind with 19 digs and Payne added 10. Trinity improves to 7-3 overall with the win, now taking a day of rest before hitting the road to take on Muhlenberg County at noon on Saturday.

Apollo vs. Ohio County

The E-gals volleyball team lost its second straight road match on Thursday, falling to Ohio County 3-0 (25-18, 25-9, 25-22) for the second straight game.

Apollo didn’t have a strong offensive game with junior Jennifer Lee and sophomore Abbie Butterworth leading the way with five and four kills respectively. Sophomore McKenna Mason added 11 assists, while junior Ella Avley led the way defensively with eight digs.

The E-gals fall to 3-6 overall on the season with the loss, as they will take a few days off now before returning to action at 6 p.m. against Owensboro on Tuesday.
