The Eagles’ woes continued on the road against North Hardin in week four, as it was too little too late offensively in a 52-25 loss.

Apollo looked to set the tone for the game early and started off strong in the opening drive, getting a three-yard rushing touchdown from junior Noah Rhinerson. The extra point was no good however, as the Eagles lead remained at 6-0 with 10:26 left in the quarter.

The Trojans took advantage of the miscue minutes later, as a rushing touchdown of their own led to a 7-6 lead with 7:20 left in the quarter following a successful PAT. This was the start of a big quarter for North Hardin, as they got a 25-yard touchdown reception from senior Devin Sealey and then a 15-yard touchdown pass with one second left in the quarter to take a 21-6 lead.

Apollo was able to get back on the board shortly into the second quarter, getting a 25-yard touchdown pass from senior Christian Combs to senior Bryson Velotta. The two-point conversion was no good though, as the Eagles still trailed 21-12 with 11:43 left in the first half.

But the Trojans had an answer once again, getting an 18-yard field goal to make it 24-12 before a 15-yard rushing touchdown gave them a 31-12 lead that they would take into the locker room. Coming out of halftime North Hardin’s offense didn’t slow down either, as they proceeded to outscore the Eagles 21-13 en route to a 52-25 lead.

Apollo hadn’t scored in the third quarter until there were 20 seconds remaining, as Combs found junior Eli Masterson for a 30-yard touchdown. The Eagles final touchdown of the night came just before time expired in the fourth, getting a 32-yard passing touchdown from Combs to senior Carter Contratto to round out their offensive output.

Apollo falls to 0-4 with the loss, as it will look to turn things around and grab its first win of the season next week when the Eagles return home to host Meade County at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 16.
