Habitat for Humanity’s E.P.I.C. Youth Camp
Habitat for Humanity is hosting their inaugural E.P.I.C (Electricity, Plumbing, Innovation, and Construction) Youth Camp this week, with the goal of exposing students to of the power of homeownership and work in the trades.
The camp runs Wednesday through Friday, with an emphasis on a different trades each day.
- Wednesday at Girls Inc., with a focus on electric and welding
- Thursday at Boys and Girls Club, with a focus on plumbing and innovation
- Friday at the Neblett Center focusing on construction
“Local businesses and trade programs came out of the woodwork to support this camp and make it happen,” said Habitat for Humanity Owensboro-Daviess County Executive Director Jeremy Stephens. “The excitement these organizations have had in making this camp happen shows the need to ensure students are exposed to and educated early about different career paths and training, such as the different skilled trades.”
Habitat for Humanity Owensboro-Daviess County is a nonprofit housing organization with a vision “of a world where everyone has a decent place to live.” Habitat works toward this vision by building and improving homes in partnership with individuals and families in need of a decent and affordable place to live.
