KSP: Owensboro man arrested after bags of meth found during traffic stop

A 44-year-old Owensboro is facing drug trafficking charges after police allege they found suspected meth and a handgun inside his vehicle during a traffic stop, according to the Kentucky State Police.

A release says a KSP trooper conducted a traffic stop on East Byers Avenue and New Hartford Road around 10:15 p.m. for a traffic violation. During the stop, the trooper identified the driver as Chad A. Davis.

According to KSP, during the stop the trooper and a Daviess County Sheriff canine located six individually packaged bags of suspected methamphetamine, scales, and a 9mm pistol.

Davis was arrested and charged with:

  1. Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 2nd (or greater) Offense-Methamphetamine
  2. Possession of a Handgun by Convicted Felon
  3. Disregarding a Stop Sign

Davis was transported and lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center. KSP Troopers were assisted by Daviess County Sheriff’s Department, the HIDTA Team, and Homeland Security.
