Wesleyan showed they can compete with the best of the best this weekend, setting multiple personal records at the G-MAC Indoor Track & Field Championships.

Opening up the weekend was Rae Sloane, who set a new school and personal record in the Pentathlon, scoring 2,482 points. Her best event was the 60m hurdles, where she placed sixth with a time of 9.62. “I got off to a great start with the hurdles, and had a few hiccups in the middle there, but closed it out strong with a big 10-second PR in the 800,” said Sloane. “Today gave me the opportunity to see what I’m capable of. I’m excited to keep training, thow the javelin around, and see where outdoor takes me.”

Sarah Vanderhoof ran a PR in the mile, coming through with a time of 5:25.08, while Kate Keller broke both a personal and school record with a phenominal time of 2:22.91 in the 800 meter run. Alexandria Schneider ran a PR of 10.21 in the 60m hurdles, and Bethany Bonanni took 0.18 off her personal best to run a 8.63 in the 60m dash. Running in a non-typical event for her, Abigail Lesniak took eight seconds off her former personal best to run a 2:26.75 in the 800. Running in the final indoor 3000m of her career, senior Emery Crume took 11 seconds off her old personal best to run a time of 11:08.58. The final women’s PR was set by Cambria Vincent, who launched the weight throw over the 12 meter mark to get a distance of 12.05m (39-6.5).

On the men’s side of things, both Arthur Powell IV flied down the track for a new PR of 7.11 in the 60m dash, while D’Marques Tyler set a new personal bets of 7.54 in the same event. Ashton Weaver took .04 seconds off his previous best time to run an 8.70 in the 60m hurdles.
