OPD: 19-year-old charged with assault for Saturday stabbing

A 19-year-old Central City man has been charged with first-degree assault for a stabbing on Saturday that sent another man to the hospital with multiple wounds that are possibly life-threatening, according to the Owensboro Police Department.

According to a release, at approximately 1:30 p.m. Saturday OPD responded to the 1200 block of East 4th Street in reference to a stabbing complaint. Officers arrived on scene and discovered a male subject with multiple wounds, officials said. According to the release, an investigation later determined the incident took place in the 2000 block of Stonewall Court. 

The male subject was transported by AMR ambulance to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital for possible life-threatening injuries. 

Detectives identified Corbin Waddell as a suspect and an arrest warrant was obtained. At approximately 10:24 p.m. Saturday, the Central City Police Department arrested Waddell on the warrant and charged him with first-degree assault. Waddell is currently lodged at the Daviess County Detention Center. 

Waddell has previously been charged with fourth-degree assault (no visible injury).
