Sweet Temptations by Victoria — which specializes in unique and gourmet desserts — has closed its storefront, though it will remain operational as a licensed home bakery.
Owner Victoria Hess opened the storefront at 231 Williamsburg Square in January 2023, but last week announced the closure.
“Unfortunately, due to inflation it has made it difficult to hire staff and make sure they’re paid well and what they deserve while keeping our gourmet desserts at an affordable price,” Hess said Monday. “I understand many people are wanting to save money right now with how the economy is and I totally understand that too.”
Hess said she was grateful for the opportunity to have a storefront even if it was only a short time.
“The community has been amazing to my business and I want to say thank you for their support,” she said. “I’ve learned so much having my own storefront, and I’m so grateful to the community for helping me reach my ultimate goal for my business.”
Hess stressed she’s not closing as a business altogether, as she’ll be returning back to her home bakery, which she expects to be ready by the beginning of July. The home-based business will be licensed, registered with the state, city, and local health department.
Anyone wanting to place an order can reach out to Hess via Facebook or Instagram, and she will walk them through the ordering request process.
Hess said she’s in the process of cleaning out her storefront and seeing what else there is to sell. The oven and fridge are pending pick-up, and she’ll post anything else that will be for sale on her social media pages.
