The City Commission voted to change the meeting schedule at Tuesday’s meeting to now only have two meetings a month instead of three.

The topic was first at the July Work Session, where City Manager Nate Pagan presented the alternative schedules. The schedule went into place immediately after passage on Tuesday, meaning the next meeting will not be until the third Tuesday.

Under the new format, the first meeting remains the same, and the second meeting is struck from the calendar. Instead, meetings on the third Tuesday would begin at 4 p.m. with presentations that would’ve been shown at the work session, and then at 5 p.m., a regular meeting would begin.

“We’ve done a few of these hybrid commission and work session meetings over the last few months, and they have worked well,” Pagan said.

The former schedule includes a 5 p.m. meeting on the first and third Tuesdays of the month and a noon work session on the second Tuesday.

The vote went unanimously across the board even though Commissioners Bob Glenn, Mark Castlen, and Sharon NeSmith favored the third option when it was first presented. In contrast, Pagan and Commissioner Pam Smith-Wright recommended the second option.
