Ben Hawes golf course hosted the Ryder Cup which saw a Owensboro-Daviess County team up face off against an Apollo-Catholic team. After a close first day of competition, AHS and OCHS put on an exceptional performance on the final day to pull the cup from the hands of OHS and DCHS.

The first day of competition was a 2v2 scramble where two golfers from each team competed to win the most points overall on individual holes. Winning the hole granted a team one point, and a tie resulted in 0.5 points to both teams. The first day ended close as OHS-DCHS had a score of 4 and AHS-OCHS had a score of 3.

The final day of competition would break the deadlock between the two teams. The final day was singles matches where one person from each team went head-to-head with the same scoring. AHS-OCHS had nine of their golfers win their respective holes to have 9.5 overall points to OHS-DCHS’ 4.5 points. AHS-OCHS won the cup after stellar performances on the final day propelled them ahead of OHS-DCHS in points to win 12.5 to 8.5.
