The 16th Annual Lifesavers Walk will take place from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Moreland Park. Organized by the Owensboro Regional Suicide Prevention Coalition (ORSPC), the event was created to bring support to families that have been affected by suicide and raise awareness for mental health.
A butterfly release will be held immediately prior to the walk. Booths will be set up by nonprofits to share mental health resources. The event will also have food trucks on site.
First responders will also be in attendance to interact with attendees.
The Owensboro Regional Suicide Prevention Coalition strives to provide the community with resources and hopes that by making people more aware of suicide and de-stigmatizing it, work can begin on interventions for the community.
