Daviess County Sheriff Brad Youngman was elected to the Kentucky Sheriffs’ Association (KSA) Board of Directors during the organization’s 2023 conference held in Owensboro earlier this month.

“It is a tremendous honor to be elected to the board of this outstanding organization that does so much not only for Kentucky sheriffs but also for the entire Commonwealth. I am very proud to have been nominated and to be given this opportunity by my colleagues and friends,” Youngman said.

The purpose of the KSA is to promote and protect the office of sheriff and to assist all 120 Kentucky sheriffs in their duties by providing educational and training opportunities as well as professional services and legislative guidance for sheriffs and their deputies. The KSA also fundraises for and operates the Sheriffs’ Boys and Girls Ranch for underprivileged children.

The Kentucky Sheriffs’ Association Board is made up of 12 elected officers and 10 Directors. Youngman is in his first year in office as Daviess County Sheriff and was sworn in on January 3. This was his first KSA conference and his term as a KSA Board Director will begin on January 1, 2024.

In addition to the annual conference, each attendee met their required in-service training requirement by completing the Sheriff’s Executive Command Course (41 hours) administered by the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training. This course covered topics such as leadership, crisis communications, civil rights, resiliency, and legal updates.
