The Christmas at Panther Creek light display will return on November 24 and run from 6-9 p.m. nightly through January 2, 2024. Daviess County Fiscal Court on Friday announced the 5 nonprofits that will benefit from this year’s event.
The agencies were selected at random and will collectively receive half of the total event proceeds. The organizations will have volunteers at the gate, accepting the $5 vehicle admission. Owensboro Health will sponsor a free “Community Night” on December 14.
The 5 nonprofits benefitting from this year’s event are:
- DUST BOWL Basketball Tournament
- Aubrey’s Song Foundation for Eating Disorders
- Moseleyville Volunteer Fire Department – MVFD
- Stanley Playground Association
- Help Office of Owensboro
The other half of the funds go back to preparing next year’s light show as they continue to expand the route and bring in new elements.
Following last year’s event, officials said the light display drew 5,500 vehicles and brought in nearly $28,000 — the third-most ever raised. A record amount of $49,300 was raised in 2020, while more than $38,000 was raised in 2021.
Panther Creek Park is located at 5160 Wayne Bridge Road, just west of Owensboro off KY 81.
