The City of Owensboro will light the Christmas tree near the fountains in Smothers Park this evening. The ceremony begins at 5 p.m. and includes a performance from the Kentucky Youth Chorale. Owensboro Times will stream the event live on our Facebook page.

Following the lighting of the tree, the “Dancing Lights” display will begin. Every night from 5-9 p.m., lights spread across Smothers Park and along Veterans Boulevard will “dance” to a different classic Christmas carol.

The events mark the beginning of the City’s “Hometown Christmas,” a series of holiday activities in downtown Owensboro.
