Still in the holiday spirit, or just want to drink some hot chocolate? Owensboro Off-Road Jeepers are taking a “Sleigh Ride” to The Cottage to enjoy a Hot Chocolate Bar this Saturday, and organizers are inviting the community to join in on the fun.
Jennie Smith, event organizer and a member of the Owensboro Off-Road Jeepers, said starting at 1:30 p.m., a convoy of Jeeps and other vehicles will leave the Owensboro Sportscenter and head out to The Cottage Farm Stand & Baking Company, located at 6869 KY 56.
Smith said on the way there, they encourage but don’t require drivers to participate in the “freeze out” — keeping their vehicle windows down the entire drive to the restaurant. They also ask that vehicles be decorated to add to the holiday spirit.
“This time of year is kind of sad for some people. They have seasonal depression and stuff like that, and it’s just something that might bring a smile to their face if they see a bunch of lights rolling through town,” Smith said.
She also said the Owensboro organization focuses on supporting local businesses where they can. Smith noted that Marlene Knight, owner at The Cottage, said she doesn’t see as much traffic to her business during the winter, so the Jeepers wanted to help out.
Smith said once at the Cottage, everyone can spend some time enjoying hot chocolate, coffee, ciders, and other hot drinks.
