Several agencies responded to an overnight fire at the Daramic manufacturing facility on the east side of Owensboro, but officials say there were no injuries.

Daviess County Fire Chief Jeremy Smith said the fire was called in around 2:45 a.m. and was put out shortly after 7 a.m. He said the fire started in Daramic’s mixing tower but was unable to say at this time what caused the fire.

According to a statement from Director of Corporate Communications Beth Kitteringham:

There was a fire at our Daramic Manufacturing facility early this morning. While we are still gathering more information, the most important thing is that all employees who were on site are safe and no one required medical treatment. All local firefighters who responded to the incident were also uninjured and we thank them for their quick response and ability to put out the fire.

Kitteringham said the company is still gathering information and at this time did not have additional information to share.

Also responding to the incident were the Thruston-Philpot, Yelvington, and Knottsville volunteer fire departments, as well as the Owensboro Fire Department.
