Carter named Director of Facilities for DCPS

Jarrod Carter has been named the next Director of Facilities at Daviess County Public Schools. He will assume the role after following the retirement of David Shutt on January 31.

As the new Director of Facilities, Carter will provide overall leadership and drive performance for property management and maintenance and capital improvement programs, including all construction projects (new facilities and renovations). Carter will also establish procedures for managing and maintaining all DCPS property in support of the school district’s mission.

Carter will additionally take on the responsibilities of overseeing the Apollo renovation project along with various facilities projects at other school buildings.

“I am thrilled to be working alongside the maintenance team and administrators to keep improving our facilities,” Carter said. “Their long-standing commitment to excellence is evident by the extraordinary facilities we have today. My goals will always be to continue providing an excellent learning and working environment for our staff and students.”

Carter has worked for DCPS for the past 14 years as a varsity golf coach at Apollo High School.

“Mr. Carter is a well-known and respected member of the DCPS community,” Superintendent Matt Robbins said. “The combination of Mr. Carter’s talents, skills, experience, and character will allow him to excel in this role. All of our buildings are in excellent condition, and I am confident in Mr. Carter’s leadership that we will continue to enjoy well-maintained school facilities.”

Before joining DCPS, he was a planning engineer for AT&T in Nashville. In this role, he was responsible for planning, designing, and analyzing the outside plant facilities while providing detailed designs for distribution facilities to meet service demands. He also developed action plans to reduce operating expenses through facility replacement, modernization, bulk recovery, and records correction.
