RiverValley Behavioral Health announced they were awarded $600,000 from two competitive grants to expand integrated substance use disorder treatment, recovery support services, and housing initiatives.
The grants were through The Kentucky Department for Behavioral Health, Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities, in partnership with the Kentucky Office of Drug Control Policy.
“These grants are testaments to the dedication and passion of the entire River Valley team. They empower us to expand our unique treatment model, providing not just substance use treatment but also addressing housing and other social determinants of health,” CEO of RVBH Dr. Wanda Figueroa-Peralta said.
On December 12, RVBH was awarded a $300,000 grant dedicated to expanding the delivery of substance use treatment and recovery services to pregnant and parenting women with Opioid Use Disorder (OUD).
RVBH received an additional $300,000 grant to increase the provision of substance use treatment and recovery services, which will be used to help men in recovery.
With this new funding, River Valley Behavioral Health intends to broaden the range of substance use treatment by adding 22 beds to assist people struggling with substance use challenges in securing safe, supportive housing.
“This is not just about providing beds; it’s about creating environments that minimize environmental triggers and enhance the chance for sustained recovery. The lack of accessible and affordable housing in our region poses a significant threat to the recovery process, and this grant allows us to address this crisis head-on,” Figueroa-Peralta said.
River Valley Behavioral Health has made continued to make progress in with their recovery housing and support services programs in the last year. The organization launched the sober living Jade House for men clients and the Pearl Houses for women clients.
Other efforts include opening the Gathering Pointe, a recovery community center, which offers peer recovery support services, recovery-oriented advocacy activities and community education and outreach.
