The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a suspect following multiple burglaries early Wednesday morning in Stanley. DCSO has a person of interest and does not believe there is any threat to the public.
According to a release, at approximately 1:30 a.m. DCSO deputies and Kentucky State Police troopers responded to the 8900 block of Saur Lane in Stanley in reference to a burglary in a garage.
According to DCSO, a white male was seen entering and exiting the garage but the suspect had fled from the scene by the time deputies arrived. Deputies and troopers searched the area and were unable to locate the suspect.
At approximately 4:25 a.m., DCSO deputies responded to the 800 block of Fogle Road in Stanley in reference to a suspicious person running from a garage. Deputies confirmed through video surveillance at both locations that it was the same suspect as the burglary on Saur Lane, according to the release.
At approximately 5:07 a.m., DCSO deputies were dispatched to the 9000 block of U.S. 60 West in reference to a dark-colored SUV stuck on the railroad tracks. Deputies located the SUV, unoccupied and stuck on the railroad tracks, according to the release.
While deputies were on scene, a resident in the 9200 block of U.S. 60 West advised he saw a white male in his garage but said the subject fled.
DCSO K-9s, detectives, and KSP troopers assisted in the search of the suspect in the last known direction.
DCSO and KSP were in the Stanley area gathering evidence, talking with residents, and searching properties until about noon, when information was learned that the suspect had been possibly picked up already from the area, according to the release.
DCSO said residents should keep their outbuildings, residences, and vehicles locked.
DCSO said they “have a strong person of interest” in the ongoing investigation, and charges are expected. They said there is no reason to believe there is a threat to the public.
