The All “A” Classic kicked off today with Owensboro Catholic advancing to the next round following a big win over McLean County, and Trinity (Whitesville) were defeated by Hancock County.

Owensboro Catholic had a more than ideal start to the All “A” Classic with a 15-0 blowout win over McLean County.
Catholic led early as they scored 1 run in the first inning. They had a big 6-run performance in the second inning to gain a comfortable 7-0 lead. Catholic held McLean scoreless for the third straight inning to pave the way for 3 runs in the third. Catholic closed out the game with 5 runs in the fourth to seal the 15-0 win.
Maren Riney was on the mound for the Lady Aces, and she helped keep McLean scoreless by only allowing 2 hits and recording 2 strikeouts. Riney also hit a triple and had 4 RBIs at the plate. Harper Latham hit a double, had 2 RBIs and 1 run scored, and Hannah Robbins hit a double, had 3 RBIs. Ruth Jones had 2 RBIs and scored 3 runs. Gracie Dukate hit a triple, had an RBI and scored 3 runs, Hannah Tignor had an RBI with 2 scored runs, Tyranda Stuart had an RBI and 1 run scored and Kailey Hamiton had 1 RBI and 1 run scored as well.

Trinity was eliminated by Hancock County in a 5-0 defeat.
The opening inning went scoreless before Hancock took a 1-run lead in the second inning. After the third inning saw neither team add to the scoreboard. Hancock extended their lead in the fourth with 2 more runs. Trinity struggled to find success at the plate, and Hancock scored 2 more runs in the sixth to close out the game at 5-0.
Madison McDaniel had 2 hits and Cameia Brown had 1 hit. On the mound, Sophie Hatfield had 4 strikeouts across 6 innings.
