Baseball recap (April 12): DCHS vs. OCHS

Owensboro Catholic and Daviess County faced off in a district game that saw the Aces walk away with a big 12-2 win. 

Catholic got off to a hot start as they scored 5 runs in the top of the first inning. Daviess County weren’t far behind as they scored 2 runs in the bottom of the inning. The Aces extended their lead in the second with 2 more runs while holding DC scoreless. After a scoreless third inning, OCHS scored 5 runs in the fourth to bring the score to 12-2. After both teams shut each other down in the fifth inning, the game was called before the bottom of the sixth with a final score of 12-2. 

On the mound for the Aces was Luke Quinn who got the win with 5 strikeouts and 4 allowed hits across four innings, and Brady Prusz who had 3 strikeouts in one inning. At the plate, Parker Heistand had a big game with 4 hits on 4 ABs that included 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Deuce Sims hit a home run during the game along with 2 RBIs and 1 run scored. Barrett Evans had 2 hits, 2 RBIs and 2 scored runs on his 2 ABs. Brady Atwell hit a triple and scored 1 run, and Houston Flynn hit a double and scored 1 run. Mason Moser and Eli Blair both had 2 RBIs, and Jaxson White scored 1 run as well. 

On the mound for the Panthers was Weston Lawrence and Brodie Tucker who combined for 4 strikeouts. At the plate, Cameron Rickard hit a double and had 1 RBI. Brett Poole and Lucas Ward both hit a double, and Ward scored 1 run as well. The other run for DC was scored by Logan Mewes.
