The Opportunity Center will host a 2-day Jubilee Craft and Vendor Fair this week featuring new, never-used, and high-quality seasonal decor. The funds raised will support the center’s mission to serve individuals with disabilities.
The event will run from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Wednesday and Thursday at the Center, located at 3560 New Hartford Road.
This marks the first year of the event, and communications manager Chelsey Robison said they received several boxes of seasonal decor as in-kind donations.
“Our leadership team met and came up with the idea to have a sale that our participants could operate,” Robison said. “We are always looking for ways to involve the people we support in real-life job experiences and bring the community to our facility to learn about our mission. We are extremely grateful for the donation of these items so that we can have events like these.”
Robison said they’re also open to craft vendors from the community joining them at the sale. Their goal is to have a minimum of 10 vendors join them, allowing them to sell their products and learn more about the Opportunity Center and its mission.
The nonprofit’s ultimate goal with the event is to create hands-on job experiences for its participants and raise awareness for the mission and individuals with disabilities. They plan to use the funds raised to host a party for their participants.
She added that the Jubilee Craft and Vendor closely aligns with their mission of providing training, advocacy, and support to people with disabilities.
“We need community support to make that happen,” Robison said. “The more foot traffic we can get in the door, the more people are learning about our mission and the capabilities of people with disabilities.”
