Windy Hollow Speedway has announced the inaugural Pumpkin Smash Bash, a Halloween-themed demolition derby. Organizers say the high-octane event promises to deliver a good time for the whole family, with a unique twist of pumpkin-smashing incorporated into the excitement. There will also be a trunk-or-treat and other activities for fans of all ages.

The event is set for 7:30 p.m. on October 25 at the Speedway, located at 4731 Windy Hollow Road.

Trevor Hutchins, representing Windy Hollow Speedway, said he is excited to host this first-of-its-kind event at the track.

“Our goal at Windy Hollow Speedway is to provide family-friendly entertainment for fans in our area,” he said. “While we are primarily a dirt track for stock car racing, we also realize that there are other types of events that can be hosted by the facility. We look forward to demolition derby competitors from all over the area to put on a great show for the fans.”

The Pumpkin Smash Bash will stand apart from the traditional demolition derby experience, according to Misty Westerfield, co-partner at Windy Hollow Speedway.

“It’s not just a demolition derby that you see at the county fair. It’s going to be a pumpkin smash where competitors will incorporate ‘pumpkin smashing’ into the event. We will also have power wheel events for the kids. We can’t wait,” she said.

Adding to the family-friendly atmosphere, the event will feature trunk-or-treating, Halloween-themed vehicle paint jobs, and more.

Tristan Abraham from Abraham Promotions shared his enthusiasm.

“All of us at Abraham Promotions are very excited to help put on the first annual Pumpkin Smash Bash in Owensboro and hopefully bring family fun back to derbies with trunk or treat, Halloween paint jobs, and last but not least, the crunching of cars and sounds of loud motors,” he said. “You don’t want to miss all the fun.”
