Emmy-nominated conductor Troy Quinn, the music director of the Owensboro Symphony, has been invited to lead the prestigious Boston Pops in their annual New Year’s Eve Celebration Concert at Symphony Hall in Boston. The event, taking place on December 31, will feature GRAMMY and Tony Award-winning Broadway legend Bernadette Peters as the special guest vocalist.

This concert marks Quinn’s debut with the Boston Pops, fulfilling a lifelong dream he has pursued throughout his career.

“It’s an honor and a privilege to conduct this storied orchestra,” Quinn said. “Ever since I was a young boy and saw John Williams conduct the Boston Pops, my dream has been to follow in those footsteps. I am immensely grateful for the opportunity, and what better way to celebrate the New Year than with Bernadette Peters and the Boston Pops.”

The concert will place Quinn among a select group of conductors who have led the iconic ensemble.

“We are so proud of Troy and could not be happier to share the news of his epic debut with the Boston Pops,” said Gwyn Payne, CEO of the Owensboro Symphony. “Owensboro is very fortunate to be represented by Troy on such a monumental occasion.”

The Owensboro Symphony is organizing a travel package for those interested in attending the concert. Those wishing to participate can contact 270-684-0661, ext. 113, by September 23 to inquire about arrangements.

Quinn, who is in his eighth season with the Owensboro Symphony, also serves as music director of the Venice Symphony in Florida and Pops Conductor of the Santa Rosa Symphony in California. Quinn’s career spans performances with renowned orchestras across the United States, and he has worked with a wide array of popular artists, including The Rolling Stones, The Beach Boys, Barry Manilow, and Jennifer Hudson.

The New Year’s Eve concert featuring Bernadette Peters will showcase songs from Broadway legends such as Rodgers and Hammerstein, Stephen Sondheim, and Jerry Herman.

Quinn will lead the orchestra in the first half of the concert, while conductor Joseph Thalken, Peters’ music director, will conduct her set in the second half of the program and accompany her at the piano.

This event will mark the return of the Boston Pops’ New Year’s Eve concert, which was last held in 2019.
