Daviess County, and Trinity (Whitesville) both won, while Apollo, Owensboro, and Owensboro Catholic all fell short.

Central Hardin 5, Apollo 1

Tyler Hall had the lone RBI for the E-Gals, scoring Hannah Holder in their 5-1 loss to Central Hardin. Mollie Julian allowed only one earned run across five innings, striking out five and walking three. Holder pitched the sixth, allowing one run, while striking out one.

“We gave up too many unearned runs,” Apollo head coach Stephen Julian said. “We need to play sound defense.”

Daviess County 18, Butler County 0

Annie Newman, Callie Smith, Molly Hancock, and Story Hume all homered and combined for 13 of the Lady Panthers 1 RBIs, in their 18-0 win over Butler County. Sophia Cain and Hume teamed up to throw three perfect innings, with nine strikeouts.

“I thought we were patient at the plate and really barreled up some balls,” Daviess County head coach John Biggs said. “I saw improvement from our two pitchers since our two scrimmages. We just want to keep getting better.”

Muhlenberg County 5, Owensboro 0

The Lady Devils couldn’t fully get going at the plate, falling to Muhlenberg County 5-0. Addison Hill and Taylor Sowders combined for four of the team’s six hits. Alyssa Rhineburger threw a complete game, allowing three earned runs, striking out three.

“We had a better overall performance tonight, but we still need to shore up things on defense,” Owensboro head coach Quincy Moorman said. “We made a couple of defensive changes and tweaked the lineup a little. We tried to get some other players at-bats to try to get things going. We just couldn’t string hits together. We will keep tweaking things until we find a lineup that works.”

Union County 6, Owensboro Catholic 5

Tied 5-5 in the seventh inning, Union County hit a solo homer to shock the Lady Aces 6-5. Lily Logsdon finished 2-4 with two RBIs and a homer, while Carley Brey and Harper Lantham both had RBIs. Hannah Robbins threw 6 1/3 innings, allowing two earned runs, while walking two and striking out four.

“I didn’t think we did the little things right to win,” Owensboro Catholic head coach Jeremy Phelps said. “It is a mindset that we will continue to work on throughout. I like that we fought back the last few innings and gave us an opportunity to win.”

Trinity (Whitesville) 10, Breckinridge County 1

The Lady Raiders jumped out to a first inning 3-0 lead and never looked back, beating Breckinridge County 10-1. Sophie Hatfield, Kendall Howard, Aubrey Millay, and Sarah Payne each had two hits, while Camryn Preston finished 1-3 with two RBIs.

Hatfield threw a complete game, striking out 13, while allowing only one run on two hits.

“Sophie Hatfield pitched another great game,” Trinity (Whitesville) head coach Jessica Morris said. “The girls had a slow start at the plate, but came alive in the fifth and sixth innings.”
